How does it work?

Dry ice blasting mimics sand blasting in that it uses a material “blasted” by pressurized air to hit a surface at a very high rate of speed. These fast-moving projectiles clean or otherwise prepare the surface for another treatment. However, the similarities end there.

Instead of using an abrasive material like sand to grind the surface (and possibly damage it too), dry ice blasting uses a much softer substance, dry ice, to get the job done. It is non-abrasive, flame proof and environmentally-friendly too! Dry ice blasting allows items to be cleaned without disassembly because the particles are so small. Dry ice particles can access spaces that no other cleaning methods could hope to reach. Moving electrical and/or mechanical parts in appliances or machinery are no problem when using dry ice blasting as the cleaning method of choice.

Dry ice blasting can be used for delicate applications like cleaning smoke damage from books after a fire, or heavy-duty purposes such as cleaning heavy machinery after a flood. The CO2 gas is non-toxic and dry ice contains no secondary contaminants. It is one of the safest, most effective cleaning tools in the property restoration toolbox.

Applications for dry ice blasting

Dry ice blasting is so safe and effective, it can be used in virtually every facet of property damage restoration and environmental remediation. Common applications include:

  • Mould remediation
  • Lead treatment and lead paint abatement
  • Flood recovery and water damage repair
  • Fire recovery and cleanup

The speed, efficiency and affordability of dry ice blasting make it a great choice to restore homes and offices after a disaster. It’s a process that can clean surfaces and materials better than any other method available today. However, it’s the effectiveness of this safe, environmentally-friendly cleaning powerhouse that makes it a leading choice among industry leaders.
